Video:Unassisted Childbirth
This is a nice video by Laura Shanley who wrote the book “Unassisted Childbirth” and runs the site www.unassistedchildbirth.com. The concept of not using a doctor or midwife at all makes so much sense when you come to terms with the fact that a woman’s body already knows how to give birth and will [...]
A Beautiful Unassisted Childbirth Story
This personal unassisted childbirth story was found at www.theage.com.au on May 27, 2007. An excerpt:
“For Clare Morrissey, her planned freebirth, at home without any medical assistance, was “absolutely beautiful”. After two hospital births, both with epidurals, and her third at a birthing centre, Mrs Morrissey decided to have a homebirth free of any help [...]
Survey
Hi there. I'm doing a paper on home birth/natural childbirth and I was wondering if any of you would like to answer a few questions on the subject. I hope it's ok to post this here.
How many children do you currently have?
How old were you when you had your first natural birth? Second, third, etc?
Where do you currently live? What city/state/country etc did you reside in when you gave birth?
If you have more than one child, did you choose natural birth for all of your children?
Have you ever given birth in a hospital before?
Do you have any friends/family/acquaintances etc that have chosen natural childbirth?
Who was present at any of your births? Midwives, nurse midwives, etc, or did you give birth unassisted?
Woul...
Feeling like a wuss
I just found out I am pregnant last week (SQUEE) with my second. With my daughter I planned a home birth with a midwife and ended up having to transfer because she was in "distress", her heart rate was too high and she had passed meconium. I really really feel like it was totally unnecessary to transfer (while we were in the ambulance I wanted to push but was told to "hold her in" until we got to the hospital/the doctor got there) but I know that the reason we did is because legally the midwife had to. My daughter was 100% fine and I think if we would have stayed home she would have been fine just born 15-20 minutes earlier and the experience would have been better for myself, my daughter, and my whole family.
I want a home birth this time and I have a lot of fear with hiring a midwif...
Video:An Almost Perfect Childbirth
This video was removed by Youtube and I want to cry. It was an incredible example of how fast and painless childbirth can be in the absence of interventions. I want to drop an apple on every OB-GYNs head (and many midwives) because clearly they never learned about a little something called gravity in [...]
